Grassmere was contracted to supply and install a complex pre-engineered building to accommodate specific project requirements in a competitively tendered environment. General construction was handled by Gilbane, a large US-based general contractor.
The building was constructed on the footprint of an existing conventional, flat roof structure that was inadequate for the proposed use.
The project involved the construction of a new addition over the existing building. It was also necessary to demolish the existing building after construction of the new structure.
The Grassmere Solution:
Grassmere consulted with Gilbane and Waste Management to overcome the challenges of building on the footprint over the existing roof structure. In particular, some of the existing walls were retained and incorporated into the new building envelope.
Our one-stop shop approach meant the project was erected by our sister company, KDM Erectors.
This was a hard bid/tendered sub-trade package for the supply and erection of a complex pre-engineered building package. The Butler Building met and surpassed all technical requirements while remaining price competitive with other pre-engineered building suppliers.
After being awarded the pre-engineered package, we were subsequently given additional work with the customer through the general contractor. This led to successful completion of the concrete work including building and equipment foundations as well as floor slabs and push walls.
The project was on time and on budget and the customer was very pleased with our work ethic.
